With Over 55 million people in Tanzania and 35% of them being the youth. But , why was it, when it came to civic matters, getting a 100% out of the 35% was always a challenging subject. TYVA needed to find a way to tap into the whole of this population and we had it for a canvas.

For the record,
Every time there were elections coming up, there was always a tendency among the youth to ignore them. TYVA aimed to create a mobile app with contents to urge the youth population to cast their votes. It had to be neutral and the idea was only to tell youths the importance of voting  even if it was a local body  election.

The Approach and
how we go about

With the problem at hand, we had to accomplish task of creating an app that would engage the youth in politics, governance and leadership specifically in electoral processes through Kijana makini App by using youth friendly kind of engagement like comic characters that would be developed specifically for this program. Comic character development had to be inclusive by considering all age groups and special groups (youth, women and people living with disabilities). Also this App had to contain different interesting section like Election Candidate section where all the candidates would be displayed each from their own political party sub-section with their own bibliography.

Communication

To engage the youth in the least boring way possible through development of comic contents for the application.
